How, where, and when to run for a seat on the Board for the next term
The board of the River Valleys Unified
School District consists of 6 members – three from Dover and three from
Wardsboro. There is equal representation from both towns. The board
members are elected for 3-year terms. The current members from Dover are Rich Werner-chair,
Laura Sibilia, and Kerry Cady. The current members from Wardsboro are Rick
Thorpe -co chair, Dwight
Boerem, and Barry Pearson.
The terms for two seats are ending in March 5, 2019 are Laura
Sibilia from Dover and Rick Thorpe from Wardsboro. Those members may
choose to stand for re-election and they must submit a Local Candidate Petition.
However, anyone who is a registered voter of the towns of Dover and Wardsboro
may run for those seats on the board. One board member will be elected from
Dover, and one board member will be elected from Wardsboro.
To run for a seat on the River Valleys
Unified School District Board, candidates must obtain a Local Candidate Petition from the Town Clerk’s office in their own town, or from the website www.rvusd.net or here: www.sec.state.vt.us/media/79016/local-candidate-petition.pdf and candidates must obtain the
required number of signatures.
In Dover, all candidates must obtain 13
signatures from registered voters of Dover. In Wardsboro, all candidates must
obtain 6 signatures from registered voters of Wardsboro.
To get their names on the ballot
for River Valleys Unified School District Board, the completed Local Candidate Petition must be filed with the Town Clerk in the town where the
petition was obtained by January 28, 2019.
